Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is a famous American film stage and television actor. McDonnell was awarded the Academy Award nomination for her part in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also very well known for her role as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as the wife of President on Independence Day and for her leading part in Donnie Darko as the titular protagonist's mother.
